Normally we don’t race with
SCCA, but rather only with other vintage
clubs. But for years SCCA has hosted an annual “vintage” weekend at Laguna Seca Raceway, one of the premier tracks
in the U.S. About 12 years ago I attended this event, but this year Team Terrific traveled to California to participate in
two back-to-back weekends, the first being the SCCA Laguna Seca Vintage races.
About 275 cars were there. The weather
was fantastic! In addition to the regular SCCA run groups, Victory Lane Magazine hosted the last of their races for the season-long
USRRC Seniors To
ur. This is a series of 5 or 6 races grids they put on at various races weekends throughout the year. Diane’s
Miller is eligible for the under 2.0 litre (the Miller being 1.6) Sports Racer class. So she entered that special Sunday race
as well.
Well, here’s the great news. She won her class in this feature race!!!! And to make it even better,
she had entered another USRRC race in Pueblo this summer where she also won her class that weekend. This combination meant
that SHE WON THE OVERALL TITLE FOR THE YEAR IN UNDER 2.0 LITRE SPORTS RACERS!
Pretty darn cool considering we didn’t
set out to do such a thing. It just worked out.
